Adventures in Beauty School Part V
Latest School News:
I wish I could take a picture of Molly, my Mannequin so you could see her fabulous haircut! She had approximately 18 haircuts by me this week. I learned hair cutting techniques on her beginning with 0 degree haircuts then 45 degree haircuts, then 90 degree haircuts. Angle haircut as described above ends up in a straight cut across the bottom (o degree) a stacked long layered look (45 degree) and a complete layered look (90 degree). Each type of haircut is done 3 times so Molly has lost about 5 inches of hair. Learning to hold the scissors correctly, not put the comb down and hold the hair at the correct angle were challenging at the beginning, but became easier as I progressed. I can see how posture plays such a key role in hairstyling as my back and arms were a bit stiff by the end of the day.
By the end of the week, my co-worker at Me Salon was brave enough to let me cut his hair. Memo, the male shampoo assistant, is sporting a very clean razor cut using #4 clippers. I kept stylists Maria and Marc close by for advise and more hands on learning.
Molly loves her hair! It’s as if that smile is painted on her face!!!
By January 2011, I should have enough hours to start working on the clinic floor.
I’ll keep you posted…..
